What Are Immediate Load Dental Implants?
Here at Valery Sweeny DDS in Silver Lake, Dr. Sweeny and Dr. Bina offer same day dental implants for patients who qualify and who are seeking a solution to their tooth loss. Aiming to achieve ideal esthetic results and improve oral health, we want all of our patients to receive treatment for their missing teeth as quickly as possible. This treatment can only be used for single-tooth restorations and can’t be used for multi-tooth implants in a row or to replace your back teeth.
We know the dental implant process can be time-consuming. We offer this treatment method so a temporary crown can be attached the same day, rather than waiting months for the area to heal without a restoration. Also known as immediate load dental implants, they can be implemented all in one day for patients who Dr. Sweeny or Bina believe have great overall oral health.
If our Silver Lake dentists don’t recommend same-day implants for you, you may benefit from a supplemental procedure before receiving our dental implant restorations.
Same Day Procedure
At your initial consult, we will examine your oral health, discuss your goals, and confirm you’re a good candidate for immediate load implants. Once we reaffirm you qualify, we will schedule an appointment for your same day procedure to restore your smile.
On the day of your procedure, Dr. Sweeny or Dr. Bina will remove any damaged, loose or failing teeth to properly prepare your mouth for the implants. They will then be placed into the jawbone and a natural-like, temporary crown will then cover the implant and provide full-functionality. You won’t have to live with gaps in your smile during your healing process, which many patients have to do when they have defective oral health.
Once your implant has completely integrated into the bone and healed, you will then come back and receive your permanent tooth restoration.
Properly Caring for Your Immediate Load Implant
Throughout your healing process, it is still important to take good care of your temporary tooth restoration because the jawbone and implant need to create a strong, lasting foundation. Avoid putting excess pressure on the tooth until it is fully healed.
After the entire dental implant process is completed, general oral care is vital to keeping your mouth healthy. Brushing twice-a-day, flossing, and regular biannual dental checkups will help your new restorations stay healthy.
